What sounds good about the performance? every one was in time and it sounded good.What do we need to work on to improve it? Why will it improve it? before and after the piece people could of stayed focused in stead of talking to each other. This would of us sound professional. What is the name of the Blues chord structure of this piece of music? 12 bar blues. What is the name of the style of beat? swing rhythm. What is it called when a performer makes something up on the spot? improvisation. ewan joiner
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Check that you are leaving spaced after full stops. Check you are beginning sentences with capital letter.
DeleteTarget: How can you stay better focussed when working in your group? How will this help you?
You could stay focused by having a leader to tell everyone what to do and make sure it is getting done. This will mean every one will no what to do and concentrate more.
DeleteI think the bass line sounded good, it was in time and tune. But the chords sounded a bit unsure and out of tune, so I think we need to work on that so the chords are clear to the audience/listeners. The name of the Blues chord is 12 Bar Blues, the rhythm is called Swung Rhythm and when a performer makes something up on the spot is called improvisation.
ReplyDeleteTarget: How could you have used the keyword "pitch" when talking about the tune?
DeletePitch is the note value, if it's high or low. I could've used it here: I think the bass line sounded good, it was in time and had perfect pitch. But the chords sounded a bit unsure and had bad pitch.
DeleteI think that we could be more in time because it sounded quite bad. It sounded good because we all knew when to change to the different number. When a performer makes something on the spot, it is called improvising.
ReplyDeleteTarget: What could you do in your group to make sure everyone knows when to sing their part at the right time? What effect do you think this would have?
DeleteCorrections: Answer Q3 and Q4.
One of us could nod or make some kind of indication to tell everyone else to start. The effect of this would be that the whole performance would sound a lot better.
DeleteI think the pitch sounds very good in both performances as it is varied and makes it more interesting to listen to. I think as a form we need to work on timing as the rhythm sometimes went to quick or slow and this will make the performances more smooth. Also we should add some instruments to vary the different layers of the performances. The chord structure is called the 12 bar rhythm. The name of the style of beat is the swing rhythm beat. When a performer makes something up on the spot it is called improvisation.
ReplyDeleteTeacher comment: Good use of the keyword "pitch" and good detail.
DeleteTargets: Suggest some ways/techniques that you think the whole class could use to improve the timing issues.
The whole class could improve the timing issues by rehearsing a few more times when we come in and what we are singing exactly. The clapping is very out of time so when we clap we need to start at the same time and keep a steady beat so the others can stay in time.
Deletei think we learned the 12 bar blues very well considering we only had one lesson on it. i think the tone of our voices were good and interesting(eg low/high).
ReplyDeletei think we need to improve in all staying in time with each other and to keep singing at the same volume as some people were heard more than others as they were shouting so it didn't sound good. this style of music is a 12 bar blues and its a swung rhythm beat. when a musician makes something up on the spot its called improvisation.
Sp/Gr/P: Start all new sentences with capital letters, especially the word "I".
DeleteTargets: How could you have used the keyword "pitch" and "dynamics" in your answer?
I believe that our pitch of voice was good. to change up our dynamics we could singer quieter at some bars or softer or louder at others bars. for example on the number'4' we could all sing softer but on '5' or '1' we could half of us sing or singer much louder. we could also move around whilst clapping. also our pitch in musical instrumentally terms we need to be acculturate and more harmonic.
Delete1.The performance was loud and clear.
ReplyDelete2. We need to sing more in tune.
3.it is called 12 bar Blues.
4. I don't know.
5.when a performer makes something up on the spot it is called improv.
Sp/Gr/P: Make sure you write using complete sentences that make reference to the question you are answering.
DeleteCorrections: Read other pupil's comments to correct your Q4 response. "Improvisation", not just "improv".
Targets: What could the class do next time to improve them all singing in tune?
To help improve our classes singing we can all try start at the same time and on the same note so all of us sound more professional instead of all over the place.
DeleteThe performance was very loud and clear however we need to improve on keeping in time. The name of the blues cord structure is the 12 bar blues. When a performer makes something up on the spot it's called improvisation.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Use more formal language, for example, "it is" not "it's". Correct spelling is "chord" not "cord".
DeleteTarget: How could you have used the keyword "dynamics" when talking about loudness?
Corrections: Read other pupil's comments to correct your Q4 response.
I think our performance sounds good because despite having little practise, we still sounded put together and rehearsed. Even though the cord and bar reading and the clapping was off-beat at times, in general, it sounded good. The bars and cords went well together, producing a harmonic sound. However, we need to improve a few things. First, we need to rehearse more, if we take more time practising, our song will sound clearer and more harmonic. Also, we need to divide the roles more evenly. If we have equal numbers of people clapping, saying cords, etc, our piece will sound more clear and you will be able to hear each individual role, instead of one taking over the others. The name of the Blues cord structure in this piece is The 12 Bar Blues. The style of the beat in this piece is swing beat. When a performer, (this could be actors, musicians, etc) makes something up on the spot, it is called improvisation. Caitlin Munro 8HN
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: "Chord" not "cord".
DeleteTeacher comment: A nice flowing paragraph of answers with good detail. A pleasure to read.
Target: Use even more musical keywords when assessing your performances. Use the following keywords: loud/soft dynamics, vocal/instrumental blend. How could you have used these words in your responses?
To improve, we can change the dynamics, to loud and quiet depending on the bar we're on. For example, when we are on '1' we will sing louder dynamics, meanwhile on '5' we will sing a softer, quieter dynamic. If we improve the dynamics, the vocals and instrumentals will blend better together, creating a harmonic finish.
DeleteOur rhythm sounds good however I think we need to improve on our vocal singing and make sure we get the notes right because all the notes were all over the place. The beat we used was swing beat. Overall I think it was ok but we could of improved on our singing and vocal chords.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Use more formal language, for example, "okay" not "ok".
DeleteTarget: What could the class do to make sure everyone is singing the right notes? What effect do you think that would have on the performance?
In order to make sure the class is singing the right notes some people could rehearse with someone who does know the notes. Which could make them much more confident and they could then join in with the class. This effect would have a very big impact on the performance as it will make it sound more professional and obviously better.
DeleteSir I was unable to find my comment so I am commenting on Ava's target. I think to make sure everyone is singing the right notes is by making sure that they defiantly know it or maybe get somone who does to help you and rehearse it well. It will have a big effect on the audience because it will make it sound better and stronger
DeleteWe sounded good because we harmonised well.We could have improved by having sections of specific groups,like all the clapping in one place or all the numbers in one place to make the piece sound clearer.The chord structure uses three chords - the tonic (chord I), the subdominant (chord IV) and the dominant (chord V). The style of beat is called canter because it is a two beat rhythmic pattern of a musical instrument within a 3/4 time music. When a performer makes something up on the spot it is called improvisation. Matthew Piggott
ReplyDeleteTeacher comment: Perfect use of more advanced language when describing the chords; fantastic detail. However, the time signature is in 4/4 for the Blues, so it's know as a "swung/swing rhythm".

DeleteI think that in our performance the swing beat in our performance was very good as it was very much in time and was fluent through the whole performance. I think that as a form we need to improve on at the start we need to come in straight away and at the end we need to stop completely.The name of the blues chord structure was called the 12 bar blues. The name of the style of the beat was called a swing beat.When a performer makes something up on the spot is called improvise or improvisation.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Make sure you always leave a space after your full stops.
DeleteTeacher Comment: Good detailed responses, keep up this level of description.
Target: What do you think the class or your group could do to make sure everyone comes in at the same time?
I think our performance was good because we started in different times in the begining.We need to improve on the clapping beacuse they were not in time so if we improve it will all sound better and practiced.The 12 bar blues,the 5 bar blues.When a performer makes something up on the spot it's called improvisation.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Make sure you always leave a space after your full stops and commas.
DeleteCorrections: The 12 bar blues was correct, not the 5 bar blues. Read the other responses and answer the question about what the rhythm is called.
Target: What do you think the class or your group could do to improve the clapping? What effect do you think this would have?
The rhythm is called swing rhythm.I think that we could all make eye contact and we could count down at the start so we all keep in time.I think that is keeping in time throughout the peformace would guide lots of the other groups.
DeleteThe voices sound good together because of the different tones they have. Maybe make it less messy and all over the place and practice a bit more. When a performer makes something up on the spot its called inprovisation and is used often in this style of music. It is difficult to do but very affective.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: *Effective* *improvisation*
DeleteCorrections: The 12 bar blues was correct, not the 5 bar blues. Read the other responses and answer the question about what the rhythm is called.
Target: What do you think the class could do to make is less "messy and all over the place"? Could you describe it using the musical term "tempo" (timing)?
It sounds good because it sounds like the actual thing. we need to improve on the clapping and getting the sound correct and it will improve it so it can sound even better. the blue chord structure is called the 12 bar blues. the style of the beat is swing beat. when someone makes something up on the spot it is called improvisation.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Start all new sentences with capital letters.
DeleteTarget: What do you think the class could do to improve the "sound"? Could the timing be improved? If so, how and what effect would it have?
I could not find my target so I replied to Anya's.
DeleteI think the class could have turned all the instruments down a little bit to improve the sound because some where louder than others, therefore you could not hear the quitter instruments that gave a good impact on the performance. The timing could be improved by using facial expressions to hint a certain time in the performance. e.g raise your eyebrows when you are about to improvise. If we get the timing right it will effect our performance in a good way because it will sound more rehearsed and clear.
The class could improve by the sound ( how the words comes out of
Deleteour mouth's) by making it flow more and sing it gently. The timing can be improved by working together, if we sing it not in time with the beat the whole song will sound weird.
I think the singing was good in the performance because it was in time and all the notes where sung well which made a smooth sound. We need to work on the clapping and fitting everything together, maybe if we work out a different beat for the clapping because it needs to be more in time so it goes nicely with the singing. When someone makes something up on the spot its called improvisation, for example say if you forgot your lines you might just make up the words.
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Start all new sentences with capital letters.
DeleteTeacher Comment: Good level of description, detail and I like that you included examples. Keep this up; especially the use of examples that illustrate your answers.
Target: What effect do you think clapping a steady beat (rather than the swing rhythm we used) could have to on timing of the whole class? Would it improve the timing? Would it take away some of the Blues feel? What do you think?
By adding in the clap or a steady rhythm would make our performance so much more catchy and want to make the audience clap to our beat I don't think it would take away the blues style cause they have pauses And instruments in there song and so do we
DeleteThings that went well: The timing of when we came in way good and so was the volume people were making. We could have improved: our layers and fitting all the parts together because sometimes i just sounded like random taps and words. The name of the piece of music: was a 12 bars blues. When a performer is on the spot its called: improvisation which is were someone makes up the speed,timing and amount of the chords played at their time. The name of the style of beat was called a swinging beat.

Sp/Gr/P: Read your response in your head to check for typos before posting, e.g. you wrote "way" in the first line, rather than "was".
DeleteTeacher Comments: Ally, there is a good use of detail in your response; keep this up.
Target: How could the class have improved their timing? What effect do you think this would have had?
Sorry Sir i could not find my comment so I have replyed to Ally's. To be more in time there could have been people counting us in and saying a word or number to keep us in time. The effect of us all being in time would. e a much more enjoyable song.
DeleteThe class could have improved their timing by knowing when to come in and go out at the correct time. This could have been done if everyone was listening and ready form the start. The effect this would have on the overall piece is it would sound much better for people that are listening to it and it would flow better through the song.
Deletewe done the beat relly well. we could inprove to be on time. the structure is called nine bars. it sounds like a horse gallaping. it is called impriason
ReplyDeleteSp/Gr/P: Start all new sentences with capital letters. *really* *improvisation*.
DeleteCorrections: Read the other responses and correct your answer, it's not called the nine bar-blues.
Target: What techniques could you use in your group to make sure a steady beat was kept by all members? How would this improve the timing?
Note: Please complete your future comments using the "Reply as 'Name/URL'" option from the dropdown menu, do not use your Google/Blogger account login. Thank you.
We could follow a rhythm by tapping out the beat, clapping or clicking fingers. This would keep all members to the same time and the same rhythm as everyone would be working to the same beat this keeping everyone perfectly together.

ReplyDelete~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Our first recording is good but it could have been better if we were louder because i couldn't really hear much. It sounded really mushed up at 0:21 together and through out its really un clear.But it was as bad :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second one was much better than the first one because it was much more clear and louder.The clapping really in time and the people doing the bum bum bum thing where much louder than the first recording, which was great because when the people who were doing 111 444 thing helped them keep in time too.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sp/Gr/P: Make sure you leave a space after every full stop. Use a capital letter when using “I”.
DeleteTeacher Comment: I liked that you gave timings of the recording to illustrate your answer - this was very informative - do this for future recordings.
Target: You've made a good comment by comparing the 2nd recording to the 1st, but make a further suggestion of what the class could have done to make the 2nd recording even better.
We cowed could make the the second recording recording better by maybe making sure that we are doing the 1111 444 and 5555 in time by using are fingers to make sure that it in time.
DeleteI couldn't find my reply so I am doing this one.
DeleteI think that in the second class performance could have been better by maybe the people who were doing the 1111 4444 could have been a bit louder and also I think the swing beat was quite faint so I think it need to be louder to keep everybody in time
i think the second recording was better because we were more in time with each other and we stayed in time all the way through.I think in order to improve i think we could have worked on our clapping so it would have sounded better. The blues chord structure we were playing was called the 12 bar blues. the style of beat we were working on was called a swing beat.When a performer makes something up on the spot it's called improvisation.
DeleteTarget: What specifically about the clapping could you have improved? What effect would this change have had on the performance?
I think it was very good with the guitar solo in the first one. All of them were all relaxed and calm in front of a massive audience. I don't think that blues should be forgotten because it is what started music. If it wasn't for blues then pop music which we listen to today wouldn't be around.
Delete1 Thing that sounds the same is the guitar that one of the people is playing in the top and bottom video, Another thing that sounds the same is the beat of the music.
ReplyDelete1 Thing that sounds different is the bass guitar in the top video in the bottom video they play the harmonica but the top video doesn't. The bass guitar has got a heavier sound whereas the harmonica is high pitched.
DeleteI think that in those videos beat of the guitar had basically the same rhym which helped the song carry on. I also thought that the singing was very much the same style and they both had low voices creating a good tone. What I thought was different with the videos was the guitars. The guitars on the first video were electronic however the guitars on the second video were acoustic which makes the videos sound very different. I also found that on the second video the rhym was quiet fast and strong however the rhym on the first video was quiet slow and soft sounding.i think these 2 things sound different because they change the way the song is sung and the instruments.
Deletei was playing the keyboard i was learning the C chord, G chord and the F chord. I learnt how to play the c and g chord and put them into the music peice. In our next lesson i wish to achieve how to add the F chord into the music piece and play it with the C and G chord altogether. But i want to push my self further and play the other notes on the keyboard, and possibly put them into a song.
DeleteOut of all of them i preffer Elvis Presley-hound dog.Elvis Presley's singing goes well with the beat of the song and its extremely catchy. They all repeat parts of the lyrics in there song. In Elvis Presley's song the beat follows in the same pattern with the singing and all the instrument that is used follow the rhyme and beat.
