Listen to your class' improvisation of the Blues scale and leave a comment on the blog post discussing the following THREE things:
- What instrument were you playing?
- What did you learn about improvisation?
- How difficult did you find improvising and why? Did your skill improve by the end of the lesson?

I was playing the guitar last lesson. I learnt that improvisation is when you make a small peice of music on the spot. I have also learnt that in the blues, when you improvise, you must use chosen chords, but in some other genres of music you can play whichever chords you like. I found it hard to think of something and then be able to play it in time with the music. At the end of the lesson, I did improve slightly.

In the lesson we managed to at least learn one of the chords well if not all 3 and we started to play it all together.
ReplyDeleteThe thing we need to improve on is listening and respecting others whilst they are talking/playing so we can get things done a lot quicker.
In the lesson I managed to learn all the chords to the ukalale and play them together.
Next lesson I will start to improvise to make it sound better and more interesting.

i was playing guitar
ReplyDeletethat there is a scale that you have to follow
I thought that thinking of the cords is hard and playing 1 string at a time because I normally strum all of the strings.

Last lesson, I was playing ukulele. I learned all the specific notes you could could play to make the improvisation sound right. I also learned that improvisation shouldn't be rehearsed, it should be made up on the spot. the way it sounds could be based on whether you are feeling happy or sad on that day. I definitely improved by the end of the lesson and I got a lot more confident as I improved. I also found it hard to play in time with the drum beat because I hadn't planned ahead.

I was playing the keyboard on Wednesday. I learnt that improvisation is hard to do and sometimes it can put a lot of presure on you, however sometimes, like in Jacob's case, improvisation can sound really good. I think improvisation is hard because you don't know what you're doing and , like I said earlier, it can put a lot of presure on you whilst you're playing and cause you to mess up. I think I did improve throughout the lesson, I definitely wasn't as good at the start of the lesson as I was at the end of the lesson.
ReplyDeleteI was playing the ukelele last lesson. I learnt about imrovisation that you have to just make it up on the spot by maybe using longer notes so you can think ahead for the next note that you are going to play. I found improvisation quite hard as you had to think of what you were going to play right on the spot. Yes, my skill did improve by the end of the lesson as we had a good amout of time to work out the cords.
ReplyDelete1) Last lesson I was playing an electric guitar that I had bought in from home.
ReplyDelete2) I learnt how improvisation could sound so good even when you have only got a few notes to work with. I also learnt that if you play around with the tempo and the volume, an improvisation can sound like it was pre-prepared and written.
3) I found improvising a bit difficult, and a bit nerve racking if you are improvising to a larger audience(like a class). I know that my confidence and my guitar skills ( like sliding up and down the fret board) definitely improved slightly over the course of the lesson.
1. I was playing drums.
ReplyDelete2. I learnt that it is not easy to improvise on drums.
3. I found it hard to get the rythm right but my skill improved over the course of the lesson
I played the guitar in this lesson. I learned how to use some different keys in my improvisation piece. I found improvisation quite hard because i'm quite bad at quickly changing my notes. at the end of this lesson, I improved on my improvisation skills.
ReplyDelete1.I was playing the ukulele
ReplyDelete2.i learnt that improvisation is creating a musical piece without planning before hand using chords that go well with the music.
3.I found improvising difficult as I hadn't had a lot of practice with it before the lesson.

Last lesson I was playing the piano. I learnt that improvisation is when you make a piece of music on the spot. Also improvisation shows your skills off and how good you are at it. I found improvisation a little difficult but at the end of the lesson I found it a little easier.

ReplyDeleteI was playing the guitar. I leant that to improvise, all the need is the basic cords and you can create pretty much anything!
ReplyDeleteI found improvisation very difficult as i wasn't sure what to do! I find it easier when i have a beat to follow. Also, i found it hard to hear what i was even playing over all the other noise.
I don't think i improved my improvisation very mach in that lesson as i couldn't listen and improve properly.

1.In the lesson I was playing the guitar.
ReplyDelete2.I learnt how to improvise and how difficult it was.
3.I found improvising very hard as you don't have a routine to follow and it is hard to think of what cords to use. I think that I improved by the end of the lesson as by the end I was able to play a short peice of improvisation.
I was playing the guitar. I learnt that improvisation is when you make up a small piece of music on the spot ( usually using similar/same notes). I found improvising difficult because you don't have any time to think about the piece of music, also you have to think quick on your feet and make sure that all the notes sound nice together and that you have made a good rhythm. I was able to learn more notes and play them quicker by the end of the lesson.
ReplyDelete1. I was playing the piano
ReplyDelete2. I learnt that even improvisation needs to go along some sort of rhythm.
3. I didn't find improvising hard because we were told which chords to use
Last lesson I played the guitar.
ReplyDeleteWhat I learnt about improvisation is that it could sound better and it gives you a chance for everyone to hear what you can do.
Improvisation was a little difficult for me because you have to make something up on the spot but sometimes you can't really think of what to do also it could be hard to remember if you want to do it again.
I wasn't in the lesson but I have previously improvised on piano.
ReplyDeleteI learnt that it is difficult to prepare for improvising, and quite nerve wracking if you are performing. I did find, however, that a good technique is to find a few chords, combinations and rhythms that fit the genre and just play them when it feels right. I found improvising really difficult, but just a bit of experience helps your performance a whole lot.
Lily b. I played piano the previous lesson but missed last lesson
ReplyDeleteLily Bonner, ho, I played the piano on the previous lesson but wasn't in the last lesson.
ReplyDeletethis lesson i played the guitar. i learnt that I am not too good at improvisation because when it was my turn to improvise, I only ended up using 2 notes. Improvisation was extremely difficult for me because I can't just think of a tun on the spot, i usually have to sit down and work it out for a while. i think that I have improved with improvisation and I think T also improved with my cord playing.
ReplyDeleteI played the ukulele. Improvisation is kinda easy they more you practice. I found it not too hard and learnt that music can be easy if you practice it more.
