Listen to your class' improvisation of the Blues scale and leave a comment on the blog post discussing the following THREE things:
- What instrument were you playing?
- What did you learn about improvisation?
- How difficult did you find improvising and why? Did your skill improve by the end of the lesson?

I was playing the ukulele this lesson. I learnt that improvisation isn't as hard as I thought. It is quite easy to make something sound good with only three notes. I found it difficult to improvise because it is nerve racking having to make something up on the spot. I think my skill with improvising has improved from this lesson because I now find it easier to find a good-sounding tune to play within a short amount of time.

ReplyDeleteWhat instrument were you playing?
Last lesson I was playing on the electric main piano with Anya Trigg.
What did you learn about improvisation?
I learnt that improvisation is something you make up on the spot. I have also learned that when you improvise you can start at a different note than play your piece.
How difficult did you find improvising and why? Did your skill improve by the end of the lesson
I found improvising easy because you can just make up your own thing and there is no chords to stick to. My skill improved a lot by the end of the lesson because I added more notes to make the piece sound more interesting and different.
ReplyDeleteThe instrument I was playing was the piano. I learnt that improvisation isn't something that's been rehearsed it’s something made on the spot. I found out that improvising on an instrument is very hard as there is nothing to look at to tell you what to play. Also it’s hard because the audience are expecting something really good and whilst improvising you get a load of notes wrong its quite nerve racking. However at the end of the lesson I became more confident with my improvising skills and played some very risky notes that I wouldn't have been able to do at the beginning of the lesson because I didn't have the confidence.
i was playing the guitar and what i learnt was how to put my finger in the right place of the guitar at firs i found it quite hard even though my learning partner had told me more than a thousand times and was actually getting quite angry because i still could master it like he could but as the lesson started to come to an end i soon picked up could then play it
ReplyDeletei played the guitar and really enjoyed it at first was quite hard even though my parter had told me more than a thousand timmes but soon after that i picked up and the mastered it
ReplyDelete1. I was playing the ukulele in the performance.
ReplyDelete2. I learnt that improvisation in music is quite difficult and takes a lot of practise. When you learning an instrument for the first time and you have to improvise, it does get quite complicated and confusing. However, if you have good rhythm and practise, improvisation can be fun and interesting.
3. I found it hard to improvise as i didn't know many cords, therefore I wasn't sure what my piece would sound like. I also found it difficult to witch between cords, so my piece didn't flow. However my skills did improve over the course of the lesson, and with practise will get better.
I think that overall we did well for our first time improvising because we had only just begun to learn the scale and most of us had learnt it really well and quickly. I was playing the bass again this week so I could carry on learning about it and the baseline. I learnt that once you got improvising and the scale, it was very easy to understand and play. At first I found improvising very hard because I couldn't figure out how to play the scale but as the lesson progressed, I began to understand how to do the scale and therefore improvise. But overall I found this lesson good to do and our performance was great for a first try at impro.

I was playing the piano in the lesson that we just had. I learnt that when you are doing improvisation it sound better and flows with the song if you only use the chords from the song. For example if the song only has C,F,G chords only use them in your improvisation. I found improvisation hard because it was hard to think of a quick pattern and make it sound right. i improved because at the start i could do it at all but by the end i was making up some good music with the chords i had been learning.

I was playing guitar and I learned that you just have to go for it when you improvise and it was good fun and easy Emma Bryan HK
ReplyDeleteI was in the Paris trip so I can not answer these questions
ReplyDeleteI played the keyboard. I learned that improvisation wasn't as simple as I thought it would be. I struggled to try and vary the order that I played the chords in. Next week I will attempt to play the chords in a more random order. By the end of the lesson my skill had improved a lot. Hopefully I can learn more chords on the keyboard to expand my knowledge even further.
ReplyDeleteI played the piano.I learned that you can do anything when improvising. Improvising can be difficult but then it can be easy. my skill did improve at the end of the lesson.
ReplyDeleteI was playing the acoustic guitar and I learnt that improvisation is playing how you feel if your feeling happy or sad play it on and instrument and just let your emotions turn into music.MY skills have improved and I found it hard but easier since last lesson because I didn't really think about what I was specifically playing I just played what I felt.
ReplyDeleteI was playing the piano.i learnt that you can use certain keys to just make it your own style. I found it difficult to find a good beat because there was such a range of keys to use. My skills did improve because I learnt that improvising is different and can get the crowd going
ReplyDeleteI thought that all the solos went well and then we had a big ending and then we all stopped in time. I thought it was the best one we have done so far.
