Listen to your class' improvisation of the Blues scale and leave a comment on the blog post discussing the following THREE things:
- What instrument were you playing?
- What did you learn about improvisation?
- How difficult did you find improvising and why? Did your skill improve by the end of the lesson?

I am testing to see if this will work for me yet

ReplyDeleteI played the keyboard with Jess, and I think that it was quite hard to improvise on the spot, because we only had a few keys that we could improvise with so we could only make limited sound. However I think that I did improve by the end of the lesson because I had practiced some different patterns and I found one that sounded good and that I liked, and I based my improvisation off of the pattern I liked and sounded good!
I was playing the keyboard. I learnt that improvisation is easier than it seems. I learnt that you should only play one note at a time. I think that improvisation is easy once you have chosen a pattern. I find it easy because it is just a pattern of notes that you repeat. I improved my skills by the end of the lesson because before the lesson I didn't know how to improvise but now I have tried it, I know how to do it.
ReplyDeleteI was playing the piano and I found it quite hard to improvise. This is beacause, I found it very hard to think of something on the spot. Especially if there are lots of people waiting on me. But I think I learnt a lot more about how and when to improvise. This is beacause we had a lot of spare time to practice. I think I improved massively since last lesson.
ReplyDelete1. I was playing the guitar.
ReplyDelete2. I learnt that its harder then it looks
3. The hardest thing about improvising is getting the cords right and at the right time because it was hard to get my fingers in the right place. My skill did improve my the end of the lesson

ReplyDeleteI played the keyboard with George and found it quite easy to improvise since we had two octaves of every key. He played one and I played one in seemingly random patterns but they actually linked into one another. I definitely think my skill at the keyboard improved by the end of the lesson as I found it easier to switch keys and improvise.
I played the guitar. I had a few ideas in my head but it was very hard for me to improvise on the spot. I am sure I improved because I managed to play something good that I liked before the lesson ended.
ReplyDeleteIn the piece,I was playing the keyboard and I felt that improvising on the spot is very difficult as I felt there was pressure on me. Mine was rushed and very short. Over the lesson I learnt more about the chords of a piano but I really think I should have done better and been more confident in myself.
ReplyDeleteI played the keyboard and can't say that I found improvisation very difficult. I suppose you could say that the limited number of keys added a handicap but it didn't have much of an affect on me. The rhythm and tempo just came to me naturally. I learnt just how simple, yet effective improvisation can be, but I wasn't challenged by it. I improved, if only because I had never improvised prior to now.
ReplyDeleteI played the bass and I found improvising quite easy as I've done it before in guitar but I also learnt about improvising on the bass which was different but still quite similar and sort of easy
ReplyDeleteI played the piano/keyboard.when you improvise you can just make something up but it has to have a good beat.i found improvization very easy to do.
ReplyDeleteI played the keyboard, I learned that using the keys we were given can create lots of sounds and at the end of the lesson I could make a sound on the keyboard I liked so over all I think I did well...
ReplyDeleteI played the ukalali. I learnt how to improvise on the spot however it is very hard and unexpected. It is hard because i didn't want to mess up or play the wrong chord. I did improve by the end of the lesson although.
ReplyDelete1.I played the piano with Honor.
ReplyDelete2.I learnt that you can be really creative with improvisation but it can sometimes be hard to do on the spot.
3.I found improvisation A little bit difficult but I definitely think it improved through out the lesson.
I played the guitar. I learnt that improvisation is quite hard because when we were all playing together it was hard to hear your own instrument but when I improvised I could actually hear what it sounded like. At the start I didn't really know how to play it but when I had played it for a bit I thought I was getting better at it.
ReplyDeleteI played guitar and in the lesson I learned that the more chords I improvised with the better it sounded, but the harder it was to play. I struggled at the start, but throughout the lesson I improved.
ReplyDeleteI played the ukulele, I think it was quite a good improvise when we played some chords, because we need to learn on playing the right chords at the right time. Next lesson i think I can improve because I have learnt two new chords last lesson, I now only need to learn one more.
