8HA Blues Prep 06 Preference and Lyrics

HA. Date: 13/10/16. Blues Lesson 06 - Preference and Lyrics

Watch the three YouTube videos below. All use the 12-bar Blues structure but are very different.

In the comments box answer the following:
  1. Name your favourite from the three videos.
  2. Give MUSICAL reasons why it is your favourite.
  3. Give a description of the lyrics and how they are put together - do they follow a pattern?

  1. My favourite tune was the one by elvis Presley 2. It was good music because it was vey up beat and had singing which sounded very bluesy3.the lyrics where in an order as it started with a chorus then a verse then a chorus

  3. My favourite song was Hound Dog by Elvis Presley. It was my favourite because it was much more up beat compared to the other two, the background of the music also rolled in nicely with the rest of the song, as did everything else did. The lyrics were a little repetitive, however there seemed to be a few verses and a chorus.

    2. It was my favourite because it used lots of different instruments and sounded very bleusy.
    3. It didn't have many lyrics however it sounded like he was saying them rather than singing them.

    2. I liked it because it was upbeat and has a good rhythm.
    3. It repeated "You ain't nothing but a hound dog" after every verse.

  6. My favourite out of the 3 was the last one (Ellis Presley ) as it had a good use of musical instruments and flowed well with a constant rhythm and was very upbeat .The lyrics were structured into verses and chorus' .

  7. My favourite piece of music was Elvis Presley Hound Dog.It is my favourite because it has a very up beat rhythm.the lyrics are repeated there is a drum beat that is quite loud and also a base guitar has a repeating rhythm.

  8. My favourite was elves Presley hound dogs. I like the way it starts with a choirs then goes to verse. It went chorus verse chorus. It was also a nice tune behind it.

  9. My favourite was b.b king. I liked it because it played th chords in a unique exciting way.it didn't have many lyrics it was manly the guitar.

  12. my favourite is tin roof blues because it's starts off really slow then it gradually gets faster and you can hear all the instruments separately but they blend in really well together.he talking about his hometown, new orleans, and the woman he met when he was living there. he is also repeating how much he loves her by expressing his feelings in the song. he is also talking about his memories in new orleans which makes us think that he has probably moved house.

  14. My favourite sound was Elvis Presley because it was up beat Livley. There was a blues influence.The pattern is 1. it started with a chorus 2. then a verse 3.then a chorus

  15. I have picked hound dog by elves Presley because this is a very Beaty song and it's lyrics go together well And repetitive

  16. My favourite song was by B.B King. The reason is because it was quite a slow rhythm and very bluesy I also like how the guitar was the lead instrument and the piano and drums followed it.
