8HM Blues Prep 07 Lyric Writing

HM. Date: 21/10/16. Blues Lesson 06 - Lyric Writing

Write your own AAB Blues lyrics with three verses. The following outline will help you:

Verse 1:
A:
A: (a repeat of the first line).
B: (ends in a rhyme).

Verse 2
A:
A: (a repeat of the first line).
B: (ends in a rhyme).

Verse 3
A:
A: (a repeat of the first line).
B: (ends in a rhyme).

Remember to following the Blues lyrics steps:
  1. Pick a subject, e.g. life is awful, you're broke, someone's left you, you've lost your job etc.
  2. Use the AAB line structure mentioned above; the first and second lines repeat, and the 3rd line ends by rhyming with the end of the 1st/2nd line.
  3. Each line should be fairly long, rhyming and either to the point or each verse should develop the story.

Use A4 paper with the title “Blues Lyrics”, the date, your full name and form.
